Symbian in Motion: 2 Screenshots That Will Make you Want the N95-3, and 1 That Won’t

Zach -- when Darla and I were testing this out, we found that it only happened with AT&T, not T-Mobile ... I haven't confirmed this anywhere else, but she tested her N93 with ATT and T-Mo both, and only ATT had the problem (and I've never had this with T-Mo on any phone). I think it's ATT's problem, not S60.

I've also gotten word from Nokia a while back that it was an AT&T; issue but I've never seen it on my N76, N80, or E61i. This means that Nokia could certainly fix it somehow and I hope they do because AT&T; sure as hell won't be making any changes on account of a phone they don't support!

Perhaps it's caused by image site/color reduction by a transparent proxy? t-mobile in the Netherlands provides this as an optional service, to "improve download times" (and reduce load on their network, of course :)

Definitely a possibility but it's still quite odd that it wouldn't affect all devices. It is in fact a bug unique to AT&T and involves proxies but images work on mobille/wap sites and on all sites for other Nokia models so it's surely an issue that they can resolve.

I have this same thing on my euro N95. It only happens once-in-a-while, and I'm worried it'll cause problems when I go to sell it. I've never seen it happen on my E61 or E61i. I do remember someone on Hofo posting a screenshot of the same bug on an E90, but I can't remember who.
I'm on AT&T, but I think it's something Nokia could fix.

Thank you so much Matter - I could have sworn that this was a problem that affected other N95 variants. I wouldn't worry about resale at all since this is a problem that is definitely not unique to your phone as we've said. There's just something about N95s (and apparently some other models as well) that the AT&T servers don't like...

Cingular / AT&T 's proxy is causing this. To fix it go to your access points and duplicate the MEdia Net access point. go to the duplicate copy and change the name, then hit options advanced settings and delete the Proxy address and the port number. Save the access point and use this for all your internet connections. The down side is that you will NOT be able to access the MEdia Net home page from this access point.

Thanks for your comment Chanse. That's an awesome idea (that I really should have thought of trying earlier) but unfortunately the issue is still present. :(
