Symbian in Motion: Define “Upgrade”

for your first problem, it's due to BestProfiles, i've mentionned this problem to the support team, you've to uninstall it to avoid the problem and wait for the next release...

for the second point, i think it's for increasing the battery life time ;)

and i'm ok with you for your others points, i'm getting the same (and more) on mine...

Thanks for the heads-up SlipKoRnSaad :)

I wonder what causes the freezing bug on 4.0707.0.7 as I had no problems with previous fw. Looks like I'll be checking out Ultimate Portable's solution until SmartphoneWare releases 1.01.

Btw, there are reports that new fw v5.x is already available at Nokia internally so hopefully we'll see something good shortly.

As for the phone bypassing the screensaver and going straight to sleep, now that I know it's not related to freezing I think it's great! :)

I still want to see a configurable MM key and fixes to the other bugs I've found (including several minor ones I didn't mention here) though... ;)

The multimedia key can still be configured after I updated my n80, but its generic so maybe thats why

Hmm... I sit still configurable in the same place? (MM key -> [down] press)

From what I've seen and experienced, all s60 smartphones have a hard time after restoring backup data to a newer firmware. My girlfriend's N73ie wouln't even boot properly after I restored a back up to it. Your best bet is to wipe the phone clean with a *#7370#>12345, format your memory card, and start fresh. Of course syncing with Outlook and copying your media from your memory card to your PC will make things easier and won't have any effect on a firmware upgrade, but just make sure to stay away from the backup/restore utility built into the phone. Hopefully that'll help you out.

Thanks for the comment Jonny :)

I've had the same experiece with back ups and I doubt I'll ever bother to try backup/restore again with any Nokia any time soon...

Just one thing that I'll note is that when you format your phone, it's much easier/less time-consuming to not format your MMC as well. You should delete all system folders and the device will automatically rebuild them but folders with your media can remain so you don't have to bother with transferring all of that data back and forth. For example, I left my three music folders, all of my images and videos, and my TomTom maps. It's just one less thing to think about while you restore all of your other data.
