Banned from HoFo? Wtf??

@ladiko Thanks for the post. I hadn't discovered the left/right function but it would have been PLENTY helpful when browsing link-packed sites like mobile9! Regarding your question, I think that there are several setting that just aren't operational yet. Actually, this is probably good news because that might indicate that an update isn't far off.

Re: First Look: UCWEB Browser by UCFLY

you can easily scroll from link to link by using the up/down direction of your joystick and you can scroll one page up/down by using the left/right direction of your joystick. if you enable smooth scrolling in settings it looks also very good and is fast enough for long pages. but could it be that small screen rendering function in settings doesnt change anything?

Re: First Look: UCWEB Browser by UCFLY

I am on neither! I've taken an unexpected relapse from all things related to communication, such as my underdeveloped blog, AIM, HoFo (getting banned didn't help), Twitter, and even some of my emails have started to decay with age. I want to give Jaiku a try when I find some time since I've heard nothing but great things about it over Twitter.

I heartily agree that the multiple page browsing is disappointing on the native browser, but possible nonetheless! ;P

Re: First Look: UCWEB Browser by UCFLY

Hey Jonny :)

You're right, that was poorly worded. Because at the time I wrote the review I thought that this browser was WAP only (which for me it still is since it won't load full pages!), I was speaking in terms of the Services browser. Even still though, UCWEB does handle multiple pages better than the S60 web browser IMO. I like the tally feature up in the corner. If they add a shortcut to cycle through the pages that would be optimal.

I'm excited to see where they take UCWEB because it has A LOT of potential.

Haven't heard from you lately by the way. I abandoned twitter but are you on Jaiku?

Re: First Look: UCWEB Browser by UCFLY

Zach, have you been using the S60 Web browser or the Services browser? I only ask because a lot of the features you refer to as missing from the S60 browser are in fact there, such as multiple pages. Or were you comparing UCWEB to the Services browser because you thought UCWEB was for WAP only? Great write-up, I'm glad there's some more competition for S60 browsers now.

Re: First Look: UCWEB Browser by UCFLY

Hey Zach - same here.. UCWeb is just undergoing a major test for the Symbian60.mobi site! I have a couple of bugs here too and i´m already too anxious to see the next release! In fact the version is named 5.01 - and i do not see a "beta" in it either. It´s feature-rich to the fullest compared to other browsers (opera/built-in webkit app) but some just seem to be not implemented yet, even if the option menues are there. CSS and Javascript support is poor especially if images are referenced through CSS.. The list is endless, nevertheless - great app with a lot of potential!

Re: First Look: UCWEB Browser by UCFLY

@Rosh Do you mean copy/paste of the site content or of addresses you type.

@cybette Thanks for the offer! I would need to set aside about to hours to cover everything I think. ;) I have received word that this version is very preliminary despite the fact that I don't see a beta designation anywhere. Let's see what the next version does before I go asking you to translate 5 pages of bug reports/feature requests. ;-)

Re: First Look: UCWEB Browser by UCFLY

I know Chinese so if you need me to translate something or file a bug report, let me know :)

Re: First Look: UCWEB Browser by UCFLY

A killer feature would be copy/paste, which, AFAIK, is not available on ANY browser for s60 platform.
