Why don't you use RSS instead of e-mail to check the comments?

Thanks for the comment Peter. I prefer email because it provides near-instant notification (when it works!) to my phone or PC. That way, no matter where I am I can respond right away via PC or phone if I wish.

There are some online reader with an interface for mobile phones like Gregarius (http://gregarius.net/) and Tiny Tiny RSS (http://tt-rss.spb.ru/trac/). They run on your own web server and update the feeds when you check for new feeds. They are reliable, spam free and as fast as a mail server.

Awesome Peter - thanks very much for the tips and links. It's something I'll definitely check into since I'm still not getting all of my notifications. :(
