Shimon, I notice you've been adding this stock comment to a variety of posts about Psiloc Connect (two that I have written myself). Apart from being bad form, have you reviewed this 'competitive' app at all?

Spamming comment sections is never desirable but if you are going to go that route and some people actually try your app to compare it to Psiloc Connect, they are going to be sorely disappointed. The fact of the matter is WeFi does not have the core functionality that makes Psiloc Connect great - the ability to connect via 3G/EDGE in the event that WiFi is not available. If WeFi does have this capability then the copy on your site is terrible.

So I would highly recommend that you examine your PR plan and move away from spamming. It casts a terrible shadow over your company and product. If you had simply contacted me here or at BGR, I would have likely posted about your app and given you valuable coverage. Now instead, you have two spam comments and only my reply to show for it.

WeFi provides a much more comprehensive app for S60. In addition to everything Psiloc does, they let you know where to find free WiFi (www.wefi.com). WeFi's community is constantly updating the list of free WiFi locations (over 400,000 around the world). And guess what, it's free!

You can use Psiloc Connect along with a VoIP app but GSM / VoIP switching is
not supported by S60 at the moment unfortunately.

Hey I just noticed that Connect is already doing what I suggested above. When I'm in the vicinity of a registered WIFI AP, Connect will use that on it's own without manual switching. I'm using it in conjunction with Seven push mail, and it works sweet! Thanks again Zach for the license Connect is one of the best apps around these days

I have a question for you Zach, that you could relay to Psiloc.. Is there a way to have Connect check WIFI availability from time-to-time, maybe in user set intervals? The reason I'm asking is, that I use Seven for push mail, and it makes a whole lot of difference if I'm connected via 3G or WIFI, the difference mainly shows in my wallet thickness :)
I've heard of a system called UMA (I'm not sure of the acronym, but I hope I got it right) that constantly searches for WIFI and switches automatically to VOIP if that is available. This is mainly for voice calls, but I guess it works with all apps. Providers are not too happy about this since if you use free WFIF, that's money out of their pockets, but as I heard Nokia is determined to put it in their handsets.
I was wondering if Connect is a forerunner for this system?
Zach do you know something about this?

I finally found the problem. After trying two different wireless routers and using every sort of security configuration possible, I finally was able to connect without any problem after turning my SSID broadcast on.

So for me (N95-3), Psiloc Connect works with SSID broadcasts disabled ONLY when your application prompts you to choose which AP to use every time the app starts. Configure your app to always use Connect as your AP and you're out of luck.

Very good point! Everyone should make sure that you have the latest version installed - you can update right from the app with drm commons. Also, I'll make sure that Psiloc sees this thread to address any issues that haven't been fixed in the latest version.

Yeah, I was having that same problem too when Connect was first released. However, that was with version 1.01. Since installing version the 1.05 update, I have not seen that error message at all. Which version are you using?

I can't recreate.

Using the same version as yours, but on a N95-1 with FW 21.0.016 and an open (MAC filtered) access point.

However I have another problem:

When starting Nokia Maps 2.0 I get the following error:

application closed: PosServer KERN-EXEC 3

It seems I'm not alone:

Ugh, it looks like I'm having this problem regardless of encryption methods. I've tried WPA2, WPA, WEP (64 & 128-bit), and open-network. All have the same result. This is annoying. Can anyone else recreate this? My details are below.

Phone:
Nokia N95-3
Firmware Version 11.2.009 (RM-160)

Router:
Linksys WRT54GS
Firmware Version: 7.50.5

Software:
Psiloc Connect Licensed Version 1.05

OK - my guess is that the issue is a conflict with WPA-enabled APs. Try switching to WEP temporarily to see if it will connect. Let me know how it goes and I'll get in touch with Psiloc once we confirm it's a WPA issue.

Yeah, it's a recognized wifi AP. Psiloc Connect will connect to it just fine if I use "Always Ask" as my default AP and manually select "Psiloc Connect" each time I open my browser. This problem is not specific to the browser. It happens with any program that requires an internet connection.

BTW, I'm using a N95-3.

Router Settings (if it matters):
SSID broadcast disabled
WPA2 Personal Encryption

If you're within range of an recognized WiFi AP, have you tried exiting the browser and trying again? Make sure you fully exit the browser before launching again. I'm trying but I can't duplicate your error.

Is anybody else noticing that this program is not really working like it should?

For example, make sure you are in range of your wifi connection and follow these steps:
1) Open your browser
2) Go to Options > Settings > General
3) Change your access point to "Always Ask"
4) Close and restart your browser and select "Psiloc Connect" as your access point

You should connect to the internet via your wifi connection. Now select Options > Settings > General and this time change your default access point from "Always ask" to "Psiloc Connect". Close and restart your browser again. Does anyone else notice that instead of connecting via wifi, you are now defaulted to your 3G connection?

I have tried to contact Psiloc regarding this issue days ago, via their support email, but they have not responded at all.

Zach, any ideas?

I also have a N95-3 and I have been getting this error message at random moments too ever since installing Connect. Sometimes the message pops up when I'm not even using my phone.

I have also found another problem. Could someone try to recreate this to see if it's just happening to me? Make sure you are in range of your wifi connection and follow these steps:

3) Close browser and reopen it
4) Select "Psiloc Connect" as your access point

Instead of Psiloc Connect finding my wifi, it defaults to my 3G connection every time. What's wrong here? Is anyone else having this problem?
