I've received word that QuickWrite in fact does not include autostart functionality. Why, you might ask? Well our good friends at Symbian Signed would not approve the app with autostart...
There are so many apps that are far more invasive and include autostart capabilities. There are also countless signed apps that do not adhere to known Symbian Signed policies - folders and data are left behind after uninstalling, etc.
So what does Mobile Systems have to do to provide autostart to their customers? Pay more money???
:(
but could you please talk in general and not just related to e61i? i mean you mentioned that you needed to press "Chr" key to get options etc i believe you were talking about qwerty keyboard, right?
thanx!
Haven't tested it on a 1-9 keyboard in a long time but I would think that * pulls up the same menu that Chr does on a full-keyboard.
Thanks! :)
For example, if I start a new note then press any key, Notes closes. Or if I try to type a new text message, as soon as I press a key in the text entry area, Messages closes.
I removed and reinstalled, and behavior was the same. I'm surprised, since e61 is supported according to the website. I may consider contacting the developer, but it's not high on my priority list at this time. :)
Cheers!
Greetings from Germany.

While typing with the suggestion box open, a quick press of shift is intended to close it. As such, you'll need to hold the shift key in order to apply it to your button push. Similarly the func key will not apply to button pushes with the suggestion box open so you must close it first (I do this with a quick press of the shift key).
It seems odd at first but it didn't take me more than a few emails to get used to it. I'm not bothered at all anymore. Let me know how it works out for you! :)
I've playing with this app. a long time. I had it on my E61 before they had the proper keyboard version. Now it has proper version I've been testing it again and it is a real time saver! :)
But I noticed that it didn't work when writing an email in Profimail. That is a real bummer because it is my main email app. :(
And also it does work a bit different in some other apps like Papyrus. Normally in Papyrus you can scroll from top to bottom and reverse when editing an appointment. With quickwrite activated you can't.. :(
Still makes me doubt a bit about the usability. Especially the Profimail part.

Even still however, you may want to contact Mobile Systems to alert them of your problems (and I'll point them to these comments). ProfiMail is an extremely popular app and is always near the top of the best selling list with nearly every app vendor I know. As such, Mobile Systems should certainly consider putting some work into ensuring compatibility between QW and ProfiMail.
Yeah I guess I better contact them about this. Most of my typing is done in Profimail or messaging so it would be logical that it would work in Profimail.
Right now my E61 is a bit unstable because of a former installation of Windows Live Messenger! This realy messeded up my E61. It gives a lot of error messages all the time and this won't help in giving a proper view on quickwrite....
