Still uses a little bit of stand by power though. You said RDM+ can utilize WLAN. Can I then use my E70 to run winamp over WIFI? I have integrated WIFI on my motherboard. Cheers.

Re: RDM+ by SHAPE Services

Very interesting..

Re: RDM+ by SHAPE Services

Thanks Ron, that's an excellent point and something that I have yet to explore. I think it would take a bit of playing for me as my PC is set up to require a login before it fully boots and begins loading startup apps. As with anything else though, I'm sure there are plenty of workarounds.

Re: RDM+ by SHAPE Services

A lot of modern BIOSes use the ACPI standard and have settings that allow you to have your PC wake up for particular events e.g. LAN input, modem input etc. They also have a real time clock (RTC) that can be set to turn on the PC at a set time everyday. So if you were to have the RDM+ server software load on Windows boot, you could combine these features to either have a PC available at a set time each day, or come on when triggered by a phone call to a modem. Still uses a little bit of stand by power though. If that is the case then this app is no use as it requires your desktop to stay on to be used. I am sure I wont leave my computer on when I go outside or on holiday.
