See http://nokia-n78.blogspot.com/ for pictures and ads

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

Wow. I'm glad you asked this question Eric. I'm testing it right now with my
AKG K240s studio cans and I get no hiss whatsoever. The audio quality is
much better than the N95 in fact. Much.

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

Nice review Zach! I have a quick question about the headphone jack output quality. On my N95 with headphones plugged in you can hear a hiss during 'dead' parts of the tracks you're playing. How's the sound quality on the N78? Any hiss coming from the headphone jack? Thanks!

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

The build quality, for better or worse, is typical Nokia. The N78 is a bit on the lighter side but it's still pretty well-built and solid. Sqeeze the sides though and it's squeak-central. Loud and consistent creaks a plenty...

Barring the N95 8GB NAM, I've yet to come across an Nseries that didn't creak. Actually, the N81 I had breifly didn't creak very much. If build quality is a huge issue for you and S60 is your flavor of choice: E61i, N95 8GB, E71 and possibly the N81 are where you should be looking. I must admit though, that the N78 is growing on my a bit. It will never replace my N95 8GB but I'm getting used to it...

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

Hows the build quality?

My N73 creaked like an old floorboard, yet I LOVED that phone. My N95-2's slider slid loose, I taped it up, its loose again (though not as bad), I still LOVE this phone. I just am starting to lose hope for a properly built phone. These high end handsets should be built accordingly... Nokia, you're just lucky I <3 you.

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

Heh :) On a fresh boot, I see around 45 MB of RAM. Not quite as much as others but plenty to get the job done. And yes, it is a sexy phone indeed. :)

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

imbedded flash support????? better photo quality then the n73????? how much availible ram????

dude they look sexy i thought they looked sorta barren but in real they;re kinda elegant

you lucky person you

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

The video was done by BG but yes, I have played with the E71. Long story short, I can't recommend it enough. It's SOOOO solid - all metal and it feels amazing in your hand. I didn't sample the camera at all but I'm sure it will be one of VERY few weak points. If camera is a big factor I would say go with the N95 8GB or the N82 if you don't need 3G. If it's not, the E71 should be at the top of your list. It really is remarkable...

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

you held the E71 right? or was that someone else over at BGR? I'm wondering how it feels in hand and what your thoughts are on qwerty vs n78 if you can. i'm really taking a good look at the e71 just because i've never had a qwerty phone. I wonder how the two cameras compare since they have the same specs.

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

This is the euro-spec version but as far as I understand, the NAM version should be released pretty soon.

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

Thanks Mike. I already shot the video and it'll be up here and on BGR shortly but I'll get those iPhone comparison pics up as soon as my fiancee gets home with her iPhone. As for the speed, the video should give you some nice insight there.

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

Is this US 3G?

Re: The Eagle has Landed… With an N78

congrats on the phone Zach! I love how thin it is. can't wait to see some n95 vs n78 comparison photos and maybe how the speed of the camera compares as well. i'm wondering if the speed is like the nokia n82. also a side by side of the side view vs. the iphone would be nice like you did with the n95.
