Tips & Tricks: Reinstalling Removed Themes

Started by Zach · 1 year ago

Quite some time ago I posted a guide detailing how to remove themes installed on your memory card that do not appear in your Application Manager list. Basically, this guide allows you to spoof your device - the installation entry is still recorded on the device but the improperly referenced theme files are deleted. • Hi there,

The guide you put together is really helpful, but how about to remove the themes which weer installed in to the phone memory itself, any suggestion?
  • Thanks for the comment pda4live. Themes installed to your phone memory should be visible (and removable) in Tools -> App. Manager. If not, unfortunately the only way to get rid of them is by formatting your phone. :(
  • i cant find the usis directry you talked about in part 2 it is just a notepad file
  • ok iv sorted i now so do i just put the folder with all the numbers and things into the sister folder on the memory card (if you now what i mean)
  • You got it Dom, just drop that whole folder into the ...\10207114\import directory on your MMC and you're good to go. :)
  • ok now im getting update failure message , any ideas(thanks for help so far btw)
  • if you have msn please add (snipped) then i can show you screenshots if you need them etc
  • Sorry Dom, I don't use MSN. Do you have this theme installed on your phone memory already? You can always send me an email at zach {[at]} mobile9 {[dot]} com.
  • no i had it installed on my mem card with some others then about half of them dissapeared and when i try re-installing them it says instalation failed then i did what you say on here and now it says update failure when it gets to the bit on the screen where it has a progress bar
  • w8 a sec it seems 2 be working il try it with another
  • ok on another theme there is now 2 folders in the unsis directry one with private and one with resource, do i ignore this resource one ?
  • Yup, you only need to worry about the resource folder if you have an FP1 device and you want the screensaver included with that theme. If so, just copy the contents of that folder (flash file) to the same path on your MMC.
  • ok thanks il get going on them then theres about 25 of them lol, thanks alot great instructions
  • lol no prob Dom, glad you got everything sorted. :)
  • could you direct me to a forum or similar thing to this were it solves profiles not working , i was using my phone in offline mode until my new sim arrived then when trying to use it it always rings with nokia tune rather than the one i have chosen, i have changed all profiles to the same song but it still calls using just nokia tune
  • A good forum for questions like that is the s60 subforum on Howard Forums.
  • no one has replyed have you any ideas?
  • dom1234, maybe the song isnt in a supported format for playback, or maybe the song had been removed. If this happens the song's name will still be there unless you open the song tab to get a new song.

hey zach ! i've linked this page of urs to my blog. thnx man, u got a gr8 thing goin on here..
    keep it up!
  • @diLin Thanks for the kind words! :)
  • hello zach..i cant find the unsis 2,7 from google..all the things that appear is crappy and nonsense..could u upload it somewhere ? :D thanks in advance :)
  • Hi ted and thanks for your comment. I would rather not post direct links to this software. Try searching for the older 2.5 version if you can't find 2.7. Also, make sure you're using a "." and not a "," to designate the version.
  • @zach i found it!! :D errrr i have a problem..i installed some themes but they're not appearing in both themes and app manager lol
  • When you use this installation method you won't see these themes listed in the app manager but they will appear under your themes list as long as you followed the guide. To remove them if you wish, you can follow my original theme removal guide (basically you just do the opposite of this guide).
  • If you have installed themes in the phone-memory and they don`t appear under programs you can remove, where can I then find them?
  • Unfortunately in that event the only way to get rid of them is to format your device. If you do, don't forget to back up all of your data first and to back up/format your memory card as well!
  • I have done that and about 5 themes I can`t get rid of reappear when I install the backup file. Is there any way to open the backupfile and remove certain objects?
  • Ahhhh another back up/restore issue. Unfortunately the backup function never seems to work quite right. Your best bet is to sync with Outlook to back up your Contacts/Calendar/Tasks and save the rest of your files manually.
  • Okay:( Thanks for trying to help me.
  • No problem, that should work out well for you. It seems like a pain but after you've done it a few times it becomes easy. I wish they'd make a backup utility that worked!
  • i cant find free download of Unsis 2.7 :( then i cant download it cus i dont have any card to pay the payment :( middle east here :S
  • Try searching for unsis 3.2 - newer and more widely available so it'll be easier to find. Also it's freeware so no need to worry about payment.
  • :) tnx alot zach u do fine keep it up for ever :D
  • No problem at all - hope that helped!
  • How Can I DELETE Unseen Themes??? Please HELP ME!!! I Can't Find Even UNSIS 3.2 :(
  • Try this post here, no unsis required.
  • thanks a lot ZACH!!!
  • si c'est vrait se que vous dite que c'est un bon logisiel pour desinstaler les theme alors merci
  • how can i install a theme on the phone, if i deleted from memory card... now, i can't install it... not even on the phone memory :(
  • Unfortunately your only options are to install it to the memory card as per the guide or format your phone.
  • Good work Zach, the themes for N95 are installed in a folder called 'skins', not 'private'. But these guides helped me to start playing around with themes and applications on my N95 and N73, they both have a bit different storage systems from each other, hacking with 6600 was damn easy. Good work,
