Give the keypad/nav some time I love navi wheel now. Can't imagine being without it.

You can type in predictive text when entering a web address.

"Photos" isn't "gallery" it's photos :-) you still have Gallery under media. the tag cloud is sweet!!!!

you have ti type 88.1 as 88#1 in the FM transmitter ;-)

The d-pad is officially dead to me ;), but I'm admittedly getting used to the keys. I'm not a fast typist to begin with so it's not a huge deal. After a while I started to like the feel of it in fact, but people who stress T9 speed may disagree.

Predictive text in the browser is something that I meant to mention, along with the fact that the address bar is gone from the bookmarks screen but pops up when you type. I forgot plenty of stuff now that I've rewatched the video - security features, etc

    Re: FM Transmitter... Weird. I can type "8 9 1" fine for 89.10 but not "8 8 1" for 88.10. # works like a charm though, thanks man. :)

no IMAP. Nokia is crazy if they removed this. I love using Gmail with Imap. Can you verify that IMAP doesn't exist Zach.
  • Zach · 1 year ago
No, no lol. Yes, the phone supports IMAP protocol. The problem is that it doesn't support IMAP idle. In other words, rather than maintaining an active connection to the mailbox and updating in near-real time (IMAP idle) with headers, the email app will poll every XX minutes as it does with POP. This means that when new mail arrives the email app will download the header and then disconnect. If you want to read it you click on it and then wait for the email app to connect to the mailbox (again), wait for it to download the email and wait for it to open the message. No good.

Like the transitions. The touch scroll thing (naviscroll) looks promising, but maaan think of people with big fingers ( I have a big hand). They should make that D pad a bit bigger for comfy use. I also have a problem with the buttons on the same note. All new nokia phones have really bad button positioning, if you are a bigger handed person. The balance of the phone just doesn't allow you to use it comfy with one hand because the buttons are too low :( Otherwise I see real promising stuff here...

Actually, the phone is so feather-light that the low buttons don't result in a weird balance at all. The more I use it, the less uncomfortable the buttons become. Still not liking the d-pad though - at all.

    Ha :)

I've gotten into the bad habit of replying with "Approve" every time I get a Disqus comment in moderation. Saw "N78" - Approved. Now I can't delete it or you'll look crazy...

    And nice shirt ;)
